Do you have significant experience of working with underserved communities experiencing health inequalities and barriers to accessing services?
Are you passionate about delivering sexual or other health promotion interventions both one-to-one and for groups?
Are you a skilled communicator who can develop relationships with a range of stakeholders to influence partnership working?
Your role
You will be responsible for Brigstowe’s HIV awareness raising, community engagement, training programme and peer support group, as well as Brigstowe’s actions and response to Bristol Fast-Track Cities.
You will design, develop and oversee our peer support group which delivers events for people living with HIV. This includes recruiting, training and supervising volunteers living with HIV who deliver or facilitate sessions. You will also deliver HIV Awareness Training, incorporating Positive Speakers (lived-experience volunteers).
You will campaign within the community to raise awareness about HIV and sexual health and build relationships with key stakeholders to influence HIV-related policy, as well as coordinate Brigstowe’s role within Bristol Fast-Track Cities, an integrated partnership which aims to end new HIV infections, stop preventable HIV deaths and tackle the discrimination and stigma associated with HIV.
You will engage with underrepresented groups in order to prevent HIV, promote good sexual health and facilitate access to services.
About you
You have excellent interpersonal skills which you can effectively use at all levels to develop relationships with community members, partners, key stakeholders, businesses, and other groups to promote and develop our work. You will have worked with underserved communities and understand the impact of the barriers they face to accessing services. You have delivered successful training which has demonstrated positive outcomes at improving the knowledge and understanding of participants on the subject.
You will have experience of working with volunteers and involving people with lived experience in the design and delivery of services. Specifically, you will manage our Campaign Volunteers, Peer Group Facilitators and Positive Speakers.
